This DocuTalk meeting is planned to be very interactive. Amanda will show examples of her still and video documentary work AIDS is Knocking. Students in Amandas documentary class at PCNW will be in attendance as participants and recipients of the collective experience and knowledge of DocuTalk members.

Amanda is requesting that 2-3 Docutalk members bring a 5 minute clip of their work (DVD or VHS) to screen for the group and discuss several aspects of their projects, such as: How the project idea was identified and why the project matters; verbalize a personal mission statement and describe how the mission statement relates to the project; discuss the information gathering/research process used for developing and pursuing the project; making contacts and identifying appropriate subjects, and collaborators; any other information that is relevant to realizing a successful project. We hope this will be an opportunity where all can come away with greater understanding of the documentary production process, have more effective strategies for realizing our projects, and be better able to articulate the mission, ideas and goals for our work.
